Schools
Many children and teens are driven to school every day by car, although they could walk, cycle or take the bus. This not only causes high traffic volume and dangerous situations due to fetching and dropping off traffic in front of the school, as a consequence, pupils also often lack independence and experience in traffic.
Student bike track planner
The student bike track planner helps students find a suitable and safe bike route to their school. It is integrated in the bike track planner Hessen and is visible as a map and can also be downloaded as an app. It not only offers coordinated and safe tracks, the planner also gives information on danger points and warnings along the route.
Advisory programme "Besser zur Schule"
In the course of the advisory programme "Besser zur Schule" by the Centre for School Mobility Management, school mobility plans are developed as holistic mobility concepts for a school location. They bundle all activities, responsibilities, processes and measures related to transport and mobility. Modern, holistic school mobility concepts are actively developed together with the school management, teachers and pupils, parents' representatives, cities and communities as well as the school authority. These include measures within the fields of infrastructure and traffic regulation, mobility education and traffic education, as well as organisation and information, and are tailored precisely to the respective school and school environment. In the Hochtaunus district, nine schools have already undergone the programme. Five more schools are currently undergoing the programme during school year 2021/2022. Interested schools can get in touch using the contact details below to be pencilled in for further rounds of the programme.
Competition "Schulradeln" for schools
"Cycle 3 weeks, score 3 times: for your school, your city, your district", is the motto of the School Cycling Competition that takes place every year parallel to STADTRADELN. During the three-week campaign period, pupils, teachers and parents can collect as many cycling kilometres as possible for their school. Within the schools, school classes can compete with each other and compete as teams for the most cycle kilometres.
The schools with the most cycling activity and the most creative projects and activities related to cycling at school are awarded prizes at the end of the competition. The School Cycling Competition is designed to introduce pupils to the topics of cycling and mobility in a playful way.
